D-CALC® Shower Doors is the shower door enclosures design and imaging component of the D-CALC® suite of software.
Based on the same engine as our leading D-CALC® Facade software , D-CALC® Shower Doors is first of all an estimating tool. As you generate the estimate, you have instant access to cross sectional details of the elevations that you create for the generation of shop drawings. You also have all of your pricing information available, including but not limited to fabrication labor, installation labor, miscellaneous additional items, as well as all of the material contained in the elevations.
Second, the program is a comprehensive shop floor reporting tool. You have the ability to create optimized cut lists of your metal, generate labor information for work stations on the shop floor and also generate CNC code to drive automated CNC fabrication machines. Glass size reports, complete bill of material reports and much more are available. The program has an embedded report generator for the creation of custom reports as well as the ability to utilize third party reporting tools.
The program is an “open ended” system allowing you to create your own databases of your particular products. D-CALC® can also interface with other programs such as inventory, ERP/MRP, accounting, etc...
As an example we have recently developed an EDI interface link to the leading Flat Glass Order Entry and Shop Management suite of Software.
Functionalities Overview
Design of enclosures:
D-CALC® Shower Doors provides a basic library of several wire frame models of Shower Door Enclosures. These wire frame models can be configured with profiles, doors, glass panels and buttresses to meet a client’s particular need, and saved as a default model for recall at any time. You have the ability to change the properties of the model including dimensions, profiles, finish, glass, etc. to suit the clients’ needs.The flexible 3D construction tool also allows building your own custom wire frames and save them as standard wire frames at any time.
Construction of the models:
D-CALC® Shower Door allows the user to create new designs on the fly to meet a clients’ particular request. The newly created designs can be saved within the library and recalled at any time to be used within another proposal. When recalled, any property of the design can be changed.Database of profiles, windows and doors :
D-CALC® allows you to create your own database of the items required to fabricate the enclosure after proper technical training from D-CALC®.
In addition, D-CALC® offers technical services for the creation of databases for our clients.
Submittal drawings :
D-CALC® Shower Door automatically generates plans for the proposed enclosure that contains a layout of each elevation. Because D-CALC® is based on a CAD engine, the fabricator can add dimensions, notes and title blocks if desired to produce a complete set of drawings for submittal as necessary.
Bill of Materials calculation :
D-CALC® provides the fabricator a complete Bill of Materials including extrusions, glass, hardware and accessories for the fabrication of the enclosure.
The bill of materials is automatically updated whenever the user edits or changes any properties of the enclosure such as dimensions, finish, glass, doors, etc.
Fabrication lists and drawings :
D-CALC® allows the user to place, directly on the drawings, a complete list of materials including cut lengths for the extrusions along with cutting angles thus allowing for the generation of shop fabrication and field erection drawings. In addition, the list contains all of the glass panels and doors required along with the necessary hardware and accessories.
The Lineal optimization module allows the user to generate an optimized cut list of the extrusions based on their overall stock lengths, ensuring minimal cut waste.

Generation of a photo-realistic view of the proposed enclosure :
At any time, the user can generate a photo-realistic view of the proposed enclosure. The view is a true 3-D model, which can be viewed from any angle. You can import an image of the clients’ bathroom and adjust the perspective properties of the enclosure to match that of the photo. In addition, you can add additional effects such as backgrounds and 3-D objects to create a completed presentation for the client. With D-CALC® Shower Door, you work with a true model of the shower door that you create, not a scanned image pasted on a clients bathroom picture. The client sees what he is getting and you get the order.
Import / Export of data :
The drawings generated by D-CALC® Shower Door can be exported to a DXF/DWG file and imported at any time if desired. The drawings can also be inserted into e-mails or text processing programs. The bill of materials can also be exported to Microsoft Excel, Microsoft Access or any other program capable of importing ASCII or comma delimitated files.
